A Red Card for the Wind Storm

By: Bob | January 18th, 2007

There has been a lot of talk about South Africa’s ability to host the World Cup in 2010. Naysayers have talked about the country’s infrastructure, whether the stadiums will be ready in time and whether there is the political will to get the job done. One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is the weather. The video above would make me nervous if I were a World Cup player. Fortunately I am not a World Cup player so I can enjoy the craziness without having nightmares, other than the usual Oliver Kahm nightmares I always have, that is. By the way, a couple of players were injured but not seriously. Good thing it wasn’t a tornado.

That is the craziest video I have seen in a while. Those players are lucky they weren’t more severely hurt. I’m surprised something like that doesn’t happen more ofter. The side boards are rather flimsy. Should give some pause as to how they can be better secured.

Frightening stuff indeed. It also looks like a lot of fans were blown out of the stadium too!

Thank God no one was seriously hurt. Imagine if there was a tragedy and what the naysayers (against SA 2010) would have said had there been a tragedy, forgeting that it was mother nature who came into play.

More carnage than Upton Park in the ’80s.
