Arash Borhani is now a Villain to One Billion People
By: Bob | December 11th, 2006If you are looking for an example of a football player displaying an utter lack of class, than look no further than the video below. You’ll see Iran’s Arash Borhani taunting his way to a goal in the 39th minute of a match against China this weekend in the Asian Games. Iran went on the win the match in a penalty shoot-out and somehow Borhani managed to make it through the game without ending up on the losing end of a cleat’s up tackle by one of his opponents. If there is such a thing as karmic justice, Borhani won’t score another goal for at least a millennium and he’ll pick up a nasty case of food poisoning the next time he orders dim sum.

What an amazing jackass… Reminds me of that 100m sprint runner in Sydney 2004 who won his first qualifying race easily and at the end turned around and taunted his opponents to hurry up.

Yeah, that’s not very professional. But I’ve done it dozens of times in pickup games. My favorite is to kneel down and nudge the ball in with my head.

Poor form but I don’t give a rat’s arse about China so I thought it was funny.

Someday, an Arsenal player would do the same thing. Like the ultra-arrogant Henry-Pires penalty miss.

Forgive him! He has already apologised to the Chinese team!

Try that in the EPL or german BuLi and you see Red for unsportsmanlike conduct.

No professional ref would give any card for such an act. You are allowed not to score, or hold back scoring or whatever the like. There’s nothing wrong in giving your opponents a snowball chance in hell to overturn the situation.

Well, he is a very kind young man, and I know him for a while. At that time he was under pressure of the Iranian media for low performance and that was a natural reaction to show off his abilities.
