Scarves on, Goals in

jordan-football.jpgEverybody, please welcome Jordan to the fast paced, mismatches galore world of international women’s football. The Jordanians made their international football debut today and were promptly drubbed 13-0 by Japan at the Asian Games in Qatar. The headlines are all about the three players who played in headscarves, but that doesn’t seem nearly as challenging as, say, playing in blindfolds or dressed as Zorro. The quote of the day comes from Jordan coach Issa al Turk who described the blowout thusly: “Let’s be realistic. It was like a child competing against a big man.” The big Japanese men women are probably pleased to hear that.

Speaking of Jordanian little children, watch out for them this summer in Canada for the World Cup of U-20!
You can bet your cheeks I’m gonna be there!
