Google Translate Creates Its Own Truths

By: chris | September 15th, 2009

This picture of two Honduran players smooching after a goal has sparked a bit of gossip about the sexual orientation of those involved. (Mostly that they’re into one another.)

Upon going through Google Translate to see what one of the players had to say about the situation, we found that Google cited the player’s comments and then provided its own truth underneath. And might lead us to think Google is calling bullshit on the players.

‘Her partner’.

Nope, nothing insinuated there.
