To me if you were born in America, and your parents are Amercian, you support America. If your parents are from a different country, it’s a grayer area.

Also, I think everyone can pick their own national team based on whatever random reason they want. I’m American, my parents are American, I have zero french heritage, and yet I’m a die-hard french NT supporter (as in I refused to talk to people for a week after the 06 world cup) I’m weird, I know, but I still think for Americans, you can really support whoever you want. I’ve got friends who just randomly support the Czech Republic and Russia for instance.
