I’ve seen Landon’s goal several times already and have seen no sign of a deflection.

The Dos and Don’ts are half-baked. If you are a girl going to play pickup then bring two types of shirts, else go shirts/skins as long as the weather is decent. Normally the decision on shirts/skins goes to the team that scores first. Yes, it is a sloppy way to start but bringing multiple shirts, etc., is too much of a hassle.

Shin guards don’t really save you from breaking your leg. If you break your leg someone has either blindsided you on purpose and you have every right (once you recover) to seek them out and return the favor, or you don’t have the balance and anticipation to get the F out of the way of a legit challenge. I say nay on the shin guards. Shin guards will not protect against a compound fracture and it is pick-up, no one should be sliding in for keeps.

Have fun! If you want to celebrate like a fool, do it! It is pick-up and you shouldn’t be taking it so seriously as to put down a ton of rules. If someone is playing like an arse, they will probably be covered very hard by people with pride and not produce as well as before, or that person is good enough to play however the heck they want. I say have fun!

I agree with not complaining and not calling every ticky tack foul. You can practice your diving to maintain possesion as long as there is legit contact on the attacking sections of the field. Defenders should never dive.

Positive attidude if you don’t know anyone is an absolute. If some of the players are your friends, then tear into them if you want. Again, have fun!

Lastly, if you are in the attacking third and you are moving forward with the ball, anything goes. You are permitted to hog the ball as you would in a league game.

Just figured I would add my two cents.

Deflected, definitely. Skimmed off the defender’s head.

Come on, :44 seconds in, skims defender’s head, Beckham raises his arm because he wants a corner. Still a great goal.
