If you are like me, I know that the first thing you did this morning was wake up and rush to your computer to find out the names of those androgynous Euro 2008 mascots that are a rip off from a German cartoon. Ladies and gentlemen of the world, hold your breath no longer and please welcome to this world Trix and Flix.

“It’s like when parents announce the birth of a child,” said Christian Mutschler, the Euro 2008 tournament director for Switzerland. “A child’s name isn’t always to everyone’s liking, but the fact 67,406 football fans in Austria and Switzerland cast a vote shows that the names proposed were very popular.”

It also shows that the good people in Austria and Switzerland have as much free time on their hands as I do.
