Beckham vs. the Queen
By: Laurie | December 3rd, 2007
How do you want to spend your Christmas? A few presents, some turkey, a slice of pie and a side of… David Beckham?
Hey, me too!
This year, we’re in luck. BBC2 Radio has signed Beckham to either give a radio address or answer listeners’ questions. And it’s either during or after the Queen’s annual radio address, depending on which version you read and when you read it.
Oddly, when the news of Beckham Christmas chat came out this weekend, it said that he was going on directly opposite the Queen’s annual Christmas address. As of this writing, though, all of the Google headlines are still saying “Radio 2 to air Beckham interview at same time as Queen’s Christmas…” , but when you click on the actuall articles, they now say “Becks follows Queen on Christmas Day.”
Beckham will answer listener questions in the two-hour show, hosted by Kate Thornton, called David Beckham’s Line of Enquiry.
Listeners are being invited to send in questions for the former England captain for the pre-recorded show, which will air at 3pm on Christmas Day, and begin with the Queen’s Christmas message.
Boy, would I love to know the arm-twisting that went on to get them to make the change, since you know who would lose if Becks took on the Queen head to head. I mean, I doubt that anybody’s ever done battle over her table scraps.
(But she could probably take him if it went to penalties.)
