From the overbearing boss dept…

Damn it feels good to have Champions League games to help us all get through the middle of the week. The slate of action features some mouthwatering games. Steaua Bucharest against Slavia Prague is not one of them. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be intrigue when these two teams with a slim chance of even advancing out of their group meet in the Czech capital on Wednesday.
Steaua Bucharest are coached by the Romanian legend Hagi. They are owned by the certifiable nutjob Gigi Becali – the man who likes his music and his players to be happy. He also likes his manager to follow his orders or else.
“I want striker Romeo Surdu and midfielder Valentin Badoi to start the match in Prague,” Becali told reporters on Tuesday. “Hagi will leave if he fails to make them play.”
“I wanted to change the former great player Hagi into an even bigger coach Hagi but he fails to listen to me,” Becali said.”
Hagi has not come out with a response to his boss’ demands. Perhaps he hasn’t heard them or perhaps he simply needs a hearing aid. It will be interesting to see if he follows Becali’s orders or if he goes with his own starting lineup, and if he does, what will Becali do if Steaua win. Knowing the parties involved, this could end up uglier than televised hanging of a dictator.
