Football Fan Suing Ex-President for “Mental Torment”
By: Daryl | July 31st, 2008
Alexander Tomov is not a popular man with CSKA Sofia fans. Under his stewardship, CSKA’s finances got so messy that the club were denied entry to this seasons Champions League. In an almost definitely related matter, the former club president has been charged with embezzlement, after £2.5 million went missing from the club’s account.
Tomov had to resign of course, but that doesn’t get him off the hook with CSKA supporters. Because now one angry fan is taking Tomov to court.
CSKA fan Yavor Bluskov is so heartbroken by CSKA being booted out of the Champions League, that he’s suing Alexander Tomov, seeking around £125,000 for “immaterial damages and mental torment”.
Maybe this will set a precedent for fans taking legal action against football people who’ve let them down. Can you imagine how long the line would be if England fans could sue Steve McClaren?
