The Women Of England Wear Twitter

By: The Offside | April 5th, 2012

twitter-follow-achieverIn a complete departure from the discussion of intelligence and football: social media.

Though studies may eventually indicate otherwise, I musn’t be the only one who feels they’re becoming more stupider just by reading Twitter. That won’t stop it, however, nor will it stop the freight train of every single noun in the world one day being preceeded by an ampersat. Thus a few ladies of the Women’s Premier League will sport their Twitter handles on their kits this weekend in a bid to promote the female side of the game.

The name will be on the sleeve, not instead of the more traditional name on the back, which would be the far more excellent idea. Like some sort of symbolism-laden futuristic identity crisis.

England’s “digital ambassadors”:

Arsenal Stephanie Houghton @stephhoughton2

Birmingham Laura Bassett @laurabassett6

Bristol Academy Siobhan Chamberlain @Sio_Chamberlain

Chelsea Claire Rafferty @clrafferty1

Doncaster Belles Julie-Ann Russell @Juuulie_Ann

Everton Jill Scott @JillScott12

Lincoln Megan Harris @MegsHarris7

Liverpool Aroon Clansey @AroonClansey

It’s a nice move but ultimately doomed to be second best once Darren Bent tattoos his handle on his forehead in a bid of shameless oneupsmanship.

  • For women and men too, the best and cheap way i think to do
different type exercises and with that drink plenty of water in
a day, avoid junk food, eat fresh fruits and vegetables.

  •  It's good to see this information in your post, i was looking the same but there was not any proper resource.

About  2 years ago I used to follow this site religiously, for football analysis, debate and insight. Out of curiosity I take a couple peaks this week after some exciting fixtures that included Barcelona being awarded 2 penalties (one of which was debatable, at least) to beat A.C. Milan, Benfica's manager screaming corruption after being eliminated by Chelsea, 3 Spanish teams advancing to the Europa cup Semi Finals and 2 to the Champion's League Semi Finals... and there's not a peep about any of it on the front page. Instead there are articles like the one above, which I'd be shocked if anyone really cared about.

    Honestly: what happened?
