There’s No Cheating In Football!
By: chris | September 24th, 2009Oh wait.
This is Kim Christensen. Kim is a goalkeeper for IFK Goteborg. Kim is also in a lot of trouble. Because, you see, Kim has a problem with this whole “regulated goal mouths” thing and he feels his goal should be just a wee bit smaller than the other guy’s. This will not sit well with the Swedish disciplinary committees.
But what may sit worse is that he claims he’s been doing it for “years”. Little bit of oversight in Sweden, huh.
Christensen came clean on Thursday saying that it wasn’t the first time that he had tried to gain an extra advantage by moving the goalposts to make the goal a few centimetres smaller.
“I got the tip from a goalkeeping friend a few years ago, and since then I have done it from time to time,” Christensen said to the tabloid newspaper Aftonbladet adding that at certain football arenas the posts are not fixed into the ground.
At least he’s admitting it, though admitting it may not help his eventual ban for such a blatant act of illegal chicanery.
You can also rest assured opponents of his last two clubs, IFK Goteborg and Danish side Nordsjaellan, will be perusing the back archives for any and all results which may have gone lost at the hand of a slightly less than regulation post or two. The Swedish and Danish FA’s must be loving this.
They also must be loving the impending investigation into how the hell this could happen for years and no one lays an eye on the infractions. Cheating gone unnoticed? Eduardo to Elfsborg in January, anyone?

The hell? That’s so obvious it’s not even funny. Some one must be getting a bribe out there.

The Refs probably weren’t looking, but it’s a Yellow Card if they caught him.

Like I said in my blog (posted before this, so in your face Chris) – it would have been interesting to see if the keeper remembered to reinstate the goals to their normal length for the second half as the teams switched ends.
