Tranfer Talk: Ben Arfa, Dani Alves, Jo… It’s Not Just All Rumours You Know
By: Daryl | July 2nd, 2008The summer isn’t all about transfer rumours you know. Sometimes there are actual signings too. And to prove it here are some photos of famous footballers smiling and holding up shirts with their names on…

- The big transfer saga of the French summer is over, with talented but bratty midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa(above) swapping Olympiques and joining Marseille from Lyon. Not great news for Lyon fans, but good news for fans of Ligue 1 because French football gets to keep one of its brightest young stars.

- Barcelona have signed Dani Alves from Sevilla for 29 million euros. A lot of money for a right back you say? Maybe, but Barca believe they’ve got themselves “the best player in his position in the world.” Still, a bit worrying that Alves (middle) looks like the oldest man in that picture isn’t it?

- Man City will have the striker with the shortest name in the Premier League next season, as they’ve signed Brazilian striker Jo from CSKA Moscow for £19 million. That’s a huge wedge of money for Mark Hughes to drop on his first purchase, but apparently the deal was in place before he took the job. And, as the proverb goes: Man [City fans] cannot live on Darius Vassell goals alone.
The following are just rumours, so no pictures of players holding up shirts and smiling. Sorry.
- Jo could possibly be joined at Man City by chunky genius Ronaldinho next season.
- And what’s the opposite of a transfer rumour? This is: AC Milan have given up on adding Emmanuel Adebayor to their ranks because Arsenal want too much money for the striker. “The request for £35.8m by Arsenal is an impossible request” said AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani.
