Volkan Ünlü Beaten from 70 Meters Out

By: Daryl | July 22nd, 2008

Portugal’s S.C. Braga beat Turkey’s Sivasspor 2-0 in the Intertoto Cup first leg on Sunday, and it’s safe to say that Sivasspor keeper Volkan Ünlü had a bad night.

With Sivasspor already 1-0 down, Ünlü was beaten from about 70 meters out by a strike from defender Moisés. I say strike, but it was more like a long aimless free-kick that bounced right over the hapless Ünlü and into the net.

No wonder Ünlü tried to hide his head in his jersey.

    gotta feel for the guy.
  • The hide-face-in-shirt tactic is not so useful when you're name is on your back!

That happened to me in a pick-up game in Central Park about a decade ago. I'd been playing a blinder in goal, and we go the next-goal-the-winner stage. Suddenly a rush of blood to my head sees the ball sailing over my head after a high bounce from the rock-hard dirt.

    Doh.
