Bremen Bludgeon Bayern in Munich
By: chris | September 20th, 2008Well who’s the Big Bad Wolf now? Werder Bremen went into Bayern’s house and put on an absolute demolition derby, taking a 5-0 lead until Bremen’s newly old boy Tim Borowski got a couple back for Bayern in the 71st & 85th. No red cards, just good old fashioned goal scoring from Markus Rosenberg (2), ex-Bayern man Claudio Pizarro, Mesut Ozil (a beauty after the jump) and Naldo. Worse yet this is Jurgen Klinsmann’s first loss at the head cheese at Allianz Arena, and it’ll surely sting a bit; now and when the title race starts to form a bit later in the season.
And once again, it seems the weekend’s best show is put on in Germany. (The rest of the goals after the jump.)
Naldo, 2-0
Ozil, 3-0
Pizarro, 4-0
Rosenberg, 5-0
Borowski, 5-1
Borowski, 5-2

And to imagine the Oktoberfest begins this weekend in Munich. Wow, Werder Bremen wants to join in the party.

Could be Mesut Özil’s breakthrough season. He’s really looking pretty good so far and should be guaranteed a lot of first team playing time. Quite a steal from Schalke’s youth. And he is putting himself in a good position to replace Diego, who’ll surely be bought by a Sheikh, Oligarch or Sovereign Wealth Fund soon.
Anyway, the silly photos of Bayern players in Lederhosen at the Oktoberfest will be all the better, knowing they’ve just been hammered 5-2 by Bremen. A little revenge for Bayern’s 4-0 win at the Weserstadion last year.

As they always say, revenge is sweet.
And regarding Ozil…if I am not wrong, he wasn’t really happy during his time at Schalke, right?Posted from

He was supposed to replace Schalke’s playmaker Lincoln together with Ivan Rakitic. But Rakitic was the one who got most of the playing time so Özil was frustrated. Then there was a dispute over a contract extension over which Özil and Schalke eventually fell out with each other. Bremen was then happy to take him from Schalke for something like €5m.

Eep. I have to watch these goals through my fingers. Just a shocking result.
