I don't know - I think the scoreline was earned by Getafe more than it was sluffed by Bayern. They (Geta) won the battle of the midfield, winning balls and stealing possession before Bayern could develop any coherent attacks. The Germans (after the first half-hour) were confined to counter-attacking on offense (which is hard to imagine, a role-reversal like that, and in Germany none the less) and what chances they had on the counters were equal parts fluffed by Bayern and picked up by the Spaniards. Of course, I'm awfully biased and that may effect my assessment, but I still think it'd be unfair to ignore the game the Azulones put on.

Crikey. Bayern took their foot off the gas -- that was some exceptionally lazy defending. Bayern had almost effortless control over the first half but obviously let their egos get ahold of them in the second. Ah well, that's how we keep it exciting, no?

Getafe didn't give up and pushed for an equalizer. Its all Bayern's fault. I hope they play more seriously in the second leg and get past Getafe...

That goal had me leaping up and down, at work, leaving my co-workers confounded and my boss in search of a new internet policy. Getafe had been sniffing net for the last ten minutes, with Manu hitting post minutes earlier. Then the chest, the chip, the chowder... Absolutely fantastic result for Geta. Not to forget that this could very well be the most challenging week in their season, with Barcelona at Camp Nou this weekend, and then the second leg against Bayern (who would be serious contenders in the CL this year, had they gone) on Thursday. So this was a good way to start things out. Vamos Azulones!
