Crazy German Weekend Continues: 9 Goals in Leverkusen

By: Ian Rose | August 29th, 2010

First, Bayern Munich lost to newly promoted Kaiserslautern. Then, Mainz came back from 3-0 down to beat Wolfsburg. And now the trifecta of unpredictable results in the Bundesliga is complete, with Bayer Leverkusen vs. Monchengladbach resulting in no fewer than nine goals and an away win. Monchengladbach won the match, 6-3, but unlike the Mainz result, there was no need for coming back. They opened the scoring in the 20th minute, only to have Eren Derdiyok equalize soon after. From that point on, though, the visitors were always on the front foot, going up 4-1 before Leverkusen scored a second, and 6-2 before they scored a consolation third.
