Fan for a Match: We Kicked Serious Ass this Week

By: Bob | August 21st, 2006

1860.jpgIt was only a matter of time before the positive juju that seeps from the pores of The Offside made a difference in the world and make a difference we did on Friday in the tiny Germany burgh called Munich.

You’ll recall that we selected TSV 1860 München as the team for our Fan for a Match feature, largely because we love the umlaut but also because it was a request of blog reader Coleman. He’ll be naming his children after us now that our magical supporting powers helped his team to a convincing 3-0 stomping of the pathetic Kickers Offenbach. Yes, our team did indeed kick their f’en bach.

So that brings the record for Fan for a Match to an almost acceptable 1-1-1 and we have little doubt that now that we have experienced the joy of winning there is little stopping us from feeling it again this week.

If your team needs a boost or you are looking for a name for your future children, go ahead and make your nomination for Fan for a Match. We make our final decisions on Thursday and if you don’t send your email to bob [at] theoffside.com we might just select your team’s most hatred rival. That would kind of suck, eh?

Fulham – we need a lift big time after Saturday.

And – unlike most people in the US I support them because I grew up near there and couldn’t support Chelsea even BEFORE the mafia years. Although to tell the truth I really support Wimbeldon but now that they are languishing five or six levels below the premiership I have to support another local team as well.
