HSV’s New Official Cemetery
By: chris | September 9th, 2008
Last year HSV announced plans to situate their own cemetery next to the stadium for fans of the club so they can watch their favorite German side for all of eternity – and you thought your team’s stadium had nice amenities. Today they had the “inauguration” of said cemetery and I can only say it just looks like they staged a mock funeral. There’s no way else to put it…that’s a slight bit creepy.
And much like a bedroom set, they’ve got everything covered. From the coffins to the urns, hell they even have an official HSV trumpet, you can spend your eternity decked out in HSV’s colors and logo – at least until they change them. At which point you can be retro. Nothing better than being fashionable while dead, right?
I like this though:
“We will have the first funeral here in the next few days,” Christian Reichert, a member of the club’s board, said Tuesday.
Did they have a waiting list or is everyone waiting around with bated breath for someone to drop dead?
HSV fans, Merry Christmas, but there are only 500 spots available, so book your final resting space now! (Financing available.)

(Rafael van der Vaart’s soul is in there.)

Brilliant, Chris. Adds new meaning to the words “HSV Forever”, eh? Why don’t we have this for the NCAA gridiron or the NFL? I smell a business opportunity. . .

How do you say “It is our most modestly priced receptacle” in German?
