Mesut Özil Would Like Arsenal, We Would Like Him To Get A Haircut
By: chris | January 10th, 2008
I don’t know what’s in the water in Gelsenkirchen, but whatever it is it isn’t good. As you can see in the picture to the left of Ozil, disasters are abound; and it appears this isn’t an isolated incident, as former Schalke 04 product Timo Kunert, currently of Hamburgler SV, rocks a similar coiffe (picture is after the jump, for your viewing displeasure). It’s being rumored that Mesut wants a move to the Gunner side of North London (feeling is supposedly mutual), but I really question this move. If I were Arsene Wenger, I’d be issuing a lifetime ban from the Emirates for this kid. No matter how talented he is, his decision making abilities are clearly subpar, borderline atrocious. (Other styles here.)
Hair stylings aside, Mesut hasn’t exactly been endearing himself to the Schalke hierarchy lately. You see, he agreed to a contract with a substantial pay increase, has been accepting the big time wages, but has now refused to sign the deal, hot on the heels of rumored interest from Arsenal (or not having a starting spot, depending on what day you read the papers). Tisk tisk.
So Schalke would like their money back, please:
Schalke general manager Andreas Muller told Bild newspaper: “We agreed the contract and shook hands and increased his wage immediately.
“Now, however, we have to accept that Mesut is not going to put his signature on the contract and so we have demanded he balances the overpayments off.
“If there is another club offering him more, then he should just tell us honestly. I am no longer prepared to have him walking all over us.”
You stay strong, Andreas.
And it’s not like they were paying pennies, either. The kid is an 19 year old back up on one of the Bundesliga’s better teams, and they were handing him a €1.52 per year contract til 2011. When he would be a whole 22 years old. And now the gospel that is wikipedia is reporting Chelsea has agreed to a €12m deal for the feller. Color me not believing it.
What all this doesn’t change is the fact that the kid needs some serious guidance in the hair department.
Timo Kunert.:

One thing you are forgetting is Arsene’s long tradition of molding today’s youth. Just look at what he did with Cesc, and that Euro mullet deluxe he sported in his first year amongst the first team. Who would have thought that the professor is actually one of hair design?

Cesc’s mullet is something for the ages. It wasn’t a small fashion mullet- it was a full-on, partially bleached, scraggly trails down his shoulders sort of deal. If Arsenal fixed that, then this kid can easily be changed.

You know what I would like Ozil to start doing? His flipping job. One of Schalke’s biggest issues is that all of their midfielders play like they are CM’s and they lack width in attack. This guy is as bad a culprit as any of them

Surprised you aint featured Jermaine Defoe’s latest haircut - alrite he dont play for Arsenal and he aint likely too, but at least the others have got hair.

Supposed winger that plays like/wants to be a central midfielder? 19? I’m surprised he’s not an Arsenal player already.
