Sometimes Going Incredible Hulk is the Only Answer

By: Daryl | May 21st, 2009

Goalkeepers tend to shout at their defenders. A lot. And I can only imagine how frustrating it is to be be a good goalkeeper playing behind a useless back four. Shay Given deserves sainthood for going 12 years behind various versions of that dreadful Newcastle defence without serious incident.

But not everyone has Given’s patience. Things got so bad for Eintracht Frankfurt keeper Markus Pröll last weekend, that words simply weren’t enough. Some of Pröll’s reflex saves in the above game vs Bochum are YouTube worthy in their own right, especially as marking seems to have been outlawed in the Frankfurt defence. But what puts this over the top is Pröll’s Lou Ferrigno style reaction to being beaten for a second time. Aargh!

The 2-0 win keeps Bochum safely in 1. Bundesliga for another season. Eintracht are also safe despite the defeat, so Pröll will survive to rip more goalkeeper jerseys next season.
