Werder Bremen: The Most Exciting Team in Europe?
By: Daryl | September 27th, 2008Fresh off of last week’s 5-2 win over Bayern Munich, Werder Bremen welcomed fairytale team Hoffenheim to the Weserstadion…. and put five past them too.
Bremen actually surged into a 4-1 lead, Hoffenheim pulled back to 4-4, before Mesut Özil scored a late winner for the home team. Victory in a nine goal thriller, and five Bundesliga goals for the second week in a row. Surely if there’s one team in the world worth paying money to see right now, it’s Werder Bremen (especially at these prices).
Some great goals in the video above so there’s a list of the goalscorers below, just so you know who to applaud.
In order:
1-0 Mesut Özil (Bremen) 8′
1-1 Demba Ba (Hoffenheim) 16′
2-1 Claudio Pizarro (Bremen) 17′
3-1 Diego (Bremen) 21′
4-1 Aaron Hunt (Bremen) 30′
4-2 Sejad Salihović (Hoffenheim) 36′
4-3 Vedad Ibišević (Hoffenheim) 62′ pen
4-4 Marvin Compper (Hoffenheim) 71′
5-4 Mesut Özil (Bremen) 81′
My favourite is either Claudio Pizarro’s beauty of a flick, or the long range turn and strike from Aaron Hunt – maybe the least Germanly named German in the Bundesliga.

Nice to see Pizarro finding success so quickly at Werder. Makes sense, though. That year-long rest on the Chelsea bench must have more full of energy than a kid with ADD and a sugar high.

if we score five goals in evry match, it ll be very difficult to beat us for evry team in the bundesliga.

Bremen is pretty amazing. they have some of the most crisp passing and are deadly from strikes within 30 yards. I have to say that Hoffenheim was pretty amazing as well, quite skilled on dead balls.

“or the long range turn and strike from Aaron Hunt – maybe the least Germanly named German in the Bundesliga.”
Hamburg’s Eric Maxim Choupo Moting would be my pick.

I know, I was following the game on eurosport.de and couldn’t believe my eyes. 5-4! Yet last year there was a similar score in England right? 7-4 or something?

5-4. Insane!
Not sure if I am right though but, I read that Aaron Hunt is half-English or something. But I know he is part of Germany U-21 at the moment.
