Johan Cruyff’s Brilliant Goal for Ajax (or “A-Jacks”)
By: Daryl | December 22nd, 2009I’ve put some effort in and tried to work out exactly when Johan Cruyff scored this incredible two touch goal. It’s definitely for Ajax and against ADO Den Haag, and so may be the 1972 KNVB Cup Final which Ajax won 3-2. Equally, it could be a random Eredivisie game. If you know for sure, please share in the comments.
What I am sure of is that it’s a bit of genius. It almost looks like Cruyff has miscontrolled it with his first touch, but seems Cruyff was playing with the defender’s expectations, in that the defender expected himt o bring it down, but instead Cruyff plays the ball through for himself. Perfectly weighted I might add. The finish with his second touch isn’t bad either.
The other thing that can’t pass without comment is the commentary. It’s either Canadian or American and it’s nothing short of hilarious. “A-Jacks” and “Johan Cruyffs”. My favourite part is when he says “Cruyffs’s”. If nothing else it serves as proof that American/Canadian commentary has come a long way in recent years.
