The Forgotten Woodwork

[101 Great Goals]

The corner flag is the underappreciated woodwork of the modern game. While the goalposts get all the glory – and the occasional kiss – corner flags just sit around idly and only joining the action on rare occasion. But Sparta Rotterdam appreciate the corner flag’s work. With the ball on the line (yes, during an official league game this weekend), Tim Bakens comes over and removes the corner flag from danger, crosses the ball, and places the corner flag back where it belongs. A little bit of help for the forgotten woodwork.

And a stark contrast to what’s below the jump, the horror film equivalent for corner flags: a highlight video of Antonio Cassano….

Somewhere he’s lurking.
