“You’re Indecent.”….”No, YOU’RE Indecent.”

koeman.jpgAs I’m sure you’ve heard, Ronald Koeman left Eindhoven this fall in order to take over the reins in Valencia, where a few noteworthy things may or may not have happened in the last few months. Well now Valencia would like to tap that PSV well again, and they’re looking to bring left-backing stud Carlos Salcido down to reunite with Ronnie. Only PSV didn’t like the way Valencia decided to go about things, and PSV prez claimed the Spaniards used “indecent behavior”. Ronnie K took offense to this and labeled the Dutch club “indecent themselves”. Man, I love a good catfight. Especially when it involves two people who have 24/7 access to the media.

PSV director Jan Reker
:

“It was indecent behaviour. We’re not even angry about it, but are very disappointed.

“We have immediately informed Valencia that Salcido is not for sale. Any bid from them goes straight into the trash.”

Take that!

Ronnie K:

“If Reker thinks that our approach has been indecent, then I can only state that PSV Eindhoven have been indecent themselves when negotiating many of their own transfers.”

I think Ronald has been taking lessons from Stephon Marbury on how to not-so-subtly say “I’ve got some @#$% on you and I’m not afraid to use it“.

Supposedly this has to do with one of those underhanded agreements where the Spaniards accidentally on purpose contacted the player before the club (we’ll call this “pulling a Massimo Moratti”), so that instead of paying a fat transfer fee, they can get the player to demand a move to Valencia and only Valencia. Kind of hurts negotiating positions. Which, to side with PSV, is pretty indecent and slimy. (And the legality of which is still questionable by FIFA rules.)

Not that this is the first time where a Spanish club has teed off a Dutch club. Last summer, during the neverending Wesley Sneijder negotiations, Real (specifically Peja Mijatovic) got a little bit pushy, and Ajax were having none of that, so they shut down the deal and asked Real politely to leave. The next day (or soon thereafter), the club offices in Amsterdam got a nice little letter of apology and voila, Wesley is wearing a Real kit this season.

So if Ronnie really wants Salcido, maybe he should write PSV a letter of apology instead of getting sassy.

Salcido is an awesome Mexican defender, but it sounds like risky business venturing down to Valencia. I mean, they’re not going through their best days, though if Salcido is gonna come then so should Farfan.
