¿Viva la Rafalution?

By: Daryl | July 12th, 2008

I’ll be honest, I quite like that Liverpool fans refer to Rafa Benitez’ spell at Liverpool as “The Rafalution”. Not sure whether it’s accurate, but you’ve got to love a good pun.

Not everyone is quite so positive though, and the gentleman in our latest football comic from Chris Toy takes particular offense to a Liverpool fan’s bit of word play.

Either click his angry face or click here for the full comic.

Take out Rafa Benitez and his national peers and lets see whats left. Rafa Benitez is among the world coaching elite, he changes Valencia’s dynamics and learned very quickly how to play Barcelona in Rijkaards golden age. Its not a surprise Liverpool won a CL with him and has been close again, in all truth the CL semifinals were very close, even to a point either team deserved to pass, Rafa’s side showed heart at all moments, and one has to give respect to a club with a spending tap unlike the red devils or chelsea.

I daydream of the day he’ll take over the national squad but Vicente del Bosque’s record is good enough, after all two CL is someting to take into consideration.

I would hate to see Rafa’s miserable excuse for football plague the Spanish national team. He’s also one of the most overrated coaches of all time, with Liverpool his budget has hardly been modest yet he still neglects a serious league run to put all his energy into the CL, and yet still only won it one time. With Valencia his record is better yet he merely continued Cuper’s work and still made excuses for his shortcomings depite having the most talented squad in Spain.

His arrogance is as bad as Fergusen and Wenger’s but he is inferior to both of them, and as a La Liga fan I hate the way he poaches Liga talent and wastes it with his grim anti-football

give benitez chelsea’s or man u’s budget and it would be as easy as it gets!

the beauty is that he, along with wenger, will bring the best of any player.
