Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd: Which Team Has the Best Jersey for 2010/11?
By: Daryl | August 2nd, 2010
I know, I know. The Premier League’s Big Four aren’t quite the impenetrable super-bloc of old. But despite the progress of Tottenham Hotspur and the fortunes of Man City, the Big Four are still the quartet of Premier League teams with the biggest worldwide profile. For now at least. And all four have new jerseys for the 2010/11 season, soon to be worn in replica by fans all over the world.
So below you’ll find images of the 2010/11 jerseys of (in alphabetical order) Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd, followed by a poll where you can vote for your favourite, and if you’re interested in shopping for kits, each image links to that jersey in our store…
At first glance the 2011 Arsenal home jersey doesn’t look all that different to the 2010 Arsenal home jersey. The main differences are the round collar, and the white striped on the arm being horizontal instead of vertical. Maybe not mindblowing or revolutionary, but if you’re an Arsenal fan looking for symbolism you could maybe interpret this as a small improvement and evolution from last season.

Again, not a huge change for the Chelsea home jersey. But again I’d say it’s an improvement. The adidas stripes are slightly less prominent (finishing just below the shoulder) and the weird panels feature from the 09/10 jerseys has disappeared. So the jersey no longer looks like it’s been stitched together from five other jerseys. My favourite feature is the added red on the collar. The red looks out of place initially, like maybe John Terry’s jugular has popped. Until you remember that Chelsea kits regularly had red trim up until the mid-90s, reflecting the small red roses and footballs on the Cheslea FC crest. I assume.

The new Liverpool home jersey features a new underlying pattern. My guess is that it’s a feather design similar to the Mexico jersey, but representing the Liver bird instead of the Mexican eagle. With the new round neck and redesigned adidas trims and badges, this jersey maybe represents a fresh start for Liverpool under new manager Roy Hodgson. The sponsor’s logo risks unbalancing everything (because it has text on the left and image on the right maybe?) but thumbs up for the thin stripes on the away jersey.

The Manchester United away jersey for 2010/11 has not yet been released.
This new Man Utd home jersey hasn’t gone down well with Man Utd fans. Seems the font for the sponsor’s logo was accidentally set to HUGE! during the design process (they’re really making the most of those three letters, eh?) but I like ’80s retro look that’s happening here and predict this new design will grow on Man Utd fans over the season.

Last but not least, the poll. Putting aside any club biases you may (or may not) have, which of the above 2010/11 jerseys do you prefer?
