Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd: Which Team Has the Best Jersey for 2010/11?

I know, I know. The Premier League’s Big Four aren’t quite the impenetrable super-bloc of old. But despite the progress of Tottenham Hotspur and the fortunes of Man City, the Big Four are still the quartet of Premier League teams with the biggest worldwide profile. For now at least. And all four have new jerseys for the 2010/11 season, soon to be worn in replica by fans all over the world.

So below you’ll find images of the 2010/11 jerseys of (in alphabetical order) Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd, followed by a poll where you can vote for your favourite, and if you’re interested in shopping for kits, each image links to that jersey in our store…

At first glance the 2011 Arsenal home jersey doesn’t look all that different to the 2010 Arsenal home jersey. The main differences are the round collar, and the white striped on the arm being horizontal instead of vertical. Maybe not mindblowing or revolutionary, but if you’re an Arsenal fan looking for symbolism you could maybe interpret this as a small improvement and evolution from last season.

Again, not a huge change for the Chelsea home jersey. But again I’d say it’s an improvement. The adidas stripes are slightly less prominent (finishing just below the shoulder) and the weird panels feature from the 09/10 jerseys has disappeared. So the jersey no longer looks like it’s been stitched together from five other jerseys. My favourite feature is the added red on the collar. The red looks out of place initially, like maybe John Terry’s jugular has popped. Until you remember that Chelsea kits regularly had red trim up until the mid-90s, reflecting the small red roses and footballs on the Cheslea FC crest. I assume.

The new Liverpool home jersey features a new underlying pattern. My guess is that it’s a feather design similar to the Mexico jersey, but representing the Liver bird instead of the Mexican eagle. With the new round neck and redesigned adidas trims and badges, this jersey maybe represents a fresh start for Liverpool under new manager Roy Hodgson. The sponsor’s logo risks unbalancing everything (because it has text on the left and image on the right maybe?) but thumbs up for the thin stripes on the away jersey.

Manchester United home:

The Manchester United away jersey for 2010/11 has not yet been released.

This new Man Utd home jersey hasn’t gone down well with Man Utd fans. Seems the font for the sponsor’s logo was accidentally set to HUGE! during the design process (they’re really making the most of those three letters, eh?) but I like ’80s retro look that’s happening here and predict this new design will grow on Man Utd fans over the season.

Last but not least, the poll. Putting aside any club biases you may (or may not) have, which of the above 2010/11 jerseys do you prefer?

The Red collar on the Chelsea shirt is actually paying homage to our link with the Chelsea pensioners!

Gotta be the Man United shirt for clean simplicity (massive sponsor regardless). It would be jointly with Arsenal's, but the red with white sleeves has always seemed slightly jarring to me.

Why is everyone so bent out of shape about the Man U font size? It seems so big because it's just three letters but if you look at the actual space it takes up, it's hardly different from Fly Emirates or Standard Chartered.

Can the voting for home & away be different?
Arsenal has the best home jersey but their away jersey the color is just too yellow...
  • ForzaRoma
    this is epl offside material,actually

Has to be Arsenal. It looks classy. I love the Chelsea home jersey but the away looks like its trying to hard to be cool. The Man Utd jersey would be nice if it wasn't for the massive logo.
  • People actually like the Chelsea away kit? It looks like bad graphics from a video game in the 80s.
  • Andy
Liverpool both home & away. The uderlying pattern is similar to the original fleck shirt made in 1989-1991 & the white is similar as well (1984 crown paints design).
The only thing I didn't like is the stitched on badge (instead of the embroidered club crest)

Arsenal is simple & neat. Just wonder how the long sleeve version looks - white sleeves?

Chelsea - though the collar is to symbolise the pensioners, but does Chelsea have a red patch on their club crest? The design is taken from Liverpool's home shirt of 2008/10, so it's nothing new.

Man Utd: I believe the reason for the big logo is to emulate AIG (AIG had a square encasing the words AIG). White collar? Doesn't look good because it looks like wearing a collar shirt underneath a red round neck.

    chelsea for the away kit.
  • I'm digging the retro looks (Liverpool and Manchester United), I went with United though.

The Arsenal kits are boring. I like the Chelsea away kit. The sponsor's logo is in the wrong place on Liverpool's shirts (it should be centred with the name underneath) - and Liverpool's 3rd kit (Black) is better. I actually like that United have a collar on their shirts, classy, but that Aon logo hurts the eyes. Between Liverpool's & Chelsea's away kits but no out and out winner.
  • Despite the fact that Tottenham is "my" EPL team, I must admit- Arsenal has the best kits among the big four this coming season. In fact, I've always admired Arsenal's kits and logo.

    Home strip - Arsenal
    Away strip - Chelsea
  • Bias: I'm an Arsenal fan.

Arsenal for the win. ManU's look's pretty good, shame about the sponsor. Chelsea's home is fine; I get that the red is a nod to the Pensioners, but it looks out of place. Liverpool's is shit, sorry.

As a Liverpool fan, I think that the jersey would have looked nicer with the previous sponsor than the current one. It's kind of unbalanced the shirt. Thus for this round the winner is Chelsea, especially the away kits. :)

Chelseas v neck reminds me of LFC's from last season
  • Zahid
i think Liverpool have the best kits i like both but the white one is my preferation, but im a LFC fan so i have a biased view, Arsenals home kit is ok, but it doesn't look any different to any of their old kits. The Utd kits are a waste of money the home kit is only for one season i know they have got new sponsors but home kits are meant to be for 2 seasons not 1, this is why their charging £35 instead of £40+ but thats still a rip off
  • ben
i don't mean to be arrogant but the arsenal kit is the best without a doubt its so beautiful, whereas the liverpool kit on the other hand is absolute shat-pank!!
i don't know why anybody is kidding themselves its utterly vile, im not sure if its the logo or what but its shit anyhow!!
Mancs kit is quite nice to be fair, the logo is big but you do have to admit you would think it was smart and wouldn't be too disappointed if it was your own team!!! and chelsea's, yea red collar ok whatever....
  • Jon
Man Utd supporter and have to say Arsenal's home is class. After that though I actually like the United jersey. Sure the Aon is a little big but overall I think it is very sharp and it looked good when I saw it in person a couple weeks ago.
  • aleksandar
    liverpool have the best one..

"My guess is that it’s a feather design similar to the Mexico jersey, but representing the Liver bird instead of the Mexican eagle."

Your guess would be wrong, it's based on the pattern of the 1989-1991 Liverpool away kit.
  • Arsenal - simplicity is king.
  • arsenalfan
arsenal and chelsea kits are nicest, liverpool are horrid and man utd are just average
  • Wow, can't believe that many people like the Liverpool selection. Even as a Chelsea supporter, it's hard to argue that Arsenal are not leading this.
  • Jtbluearmy
The red trim on the Chelsea collar is actually a tribute to the Chelsea pensioners
