When I lived in Argentina, some of my yankee friends and I used to pull that “speak a foreign language on the pitch” crap. It only works if you’re better at soccer than your opponents. In other words, don’t waste your time.

Well, now he’s in all the papers saying he wants to play with Eto’o, presumably for Barca. You have to give Drobga credit: he’s absolutely consistent in the way he never holds an opinion for more than 24 hours without contradicting it in the press.

It will be interesting, that’s for sure. (I believe all the Arsenal defenders bar Hoyte are native French speakers. Even the ones that aren’t French.)

More importantly: great! My first thought when I heard that Anelka was Chelsea-bound was “Please let the Drogba deal fall through, please let the Drogba deal fall through.” It will be fascinating to watch them play together, even if it’s only for a few months.

And Laurie, I’m not a Chelsea fan, either.

I have never, ever been a Chelsea fan. Until now. I Can.Not.Wait to see this partnership.

(But when they play Arsenal, they’d have a better chance of a sneak attack if they speak English.)
