While it seems like ages since Beckham last bent it like… himself, Gerrard put the perfect amount of swerve on his free kick to take it around the Aston Villa wall and into the very top right corner, giving Liverpool a 2-1 win.

The way Gerrard won the free kick was a little questionable, but the fact that it resulted from him driving directly through the middle is a bit of vindication for everyone who argued the Liverpool captain was wasted at right midfield. Which is everyone except Rafa Benitez and Steve McClaren.
