Birmingham City are awfully Proud of Aston Villa’s Accomplishments

birmingham-city-1955-1956-md.JPGWith merely a 1963 Football League Club championship to their name, Birmingham City don’t exactly have many accomplishments to fill a coffee table book let alone a couple of pages in the club’s annual yearbook. To fill the gaping hole in what has to be nothing less than a fine publication, the publisher opted to instead state that the team had won the European Cup in 1982, seven league titles, seven FA Cups and five League Cups.

No big deal, right? Who hasn’t told a fib or to to pad his resume?

The problem is that those feats were all achieved by Birmingham’s archrivals, Aston Villa.

Doh!

Some eagle eyes caught the mistake before the yearbooks were distributed and the club issued an apology that said: “We would also like to make it clear that Birmingham City Football Club has never won the European Cup.”

Those seven league titles, seven FA Cups and five League Cups must be true though, if you believe everything you read.
