Charlton Tells Cristiano Ronaldo to suck it up
By: Bob | August 1st, 2006
Amid reports of increased security and death threats, Manchester United legend Bobby Charlton chimed in today with his thoughts about Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to mother England.
“I am sure the fans will have a little go at him at the start of the season,” he said. “He is only a young lad. He is inexperienced and doesn’t know a lot about the game. But he will come back better because of this. It is going to be tricky for him at the beginning but he is a great player and that is what people should focus on.”
Nice sentiments, indeed, but I doubt that even Charlton could believe them. With the media undoubtedly stirring up the hornets nest and with English fans long on memory and short on temper, methinks Ronaldo will be in for a less than pleasant season in the Premiership.

I thought you meant Chartlon Athletic was telling him to suck it up. That might have made sense as well.
Although, surely Sir Bobby sees the difference between being a national hero (himself) and a national goat (Cristiano).
Maybe Sir Bobby has yet to see the “Facking Winker” t-shirts for sale?
