Didier Drogba gets his Drogbacite on in new Rap Album
By: Bob | April 23rd, 2007
I was down at the record store (term used to show my age) the other day and the thought occurred to me that there clearly aren’t enough albums performed by footballers. Sure, you can enjoy the fine lyrics of Duece Dempsey, Gazza’s greatest hits should be part of your CD collection, Jay DeMerit’s Soccer Rocks really does rock and Rio Ferdinand’s school performance stands the test of time, but what the world really needs is something a little edgier. What the world really needs is Drogbacite.
That’s right. Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has come to the rescue by recording a rap album under the alias Drogbacite. Like any good rap performer he is the master at explaining himself.
“Drogbacite is about me and my success. There’s even a Drogbacite compilation CD. I need my music, especially before a game. I use it in the dressing room.”
Some of you might be wondering where the name Drogbacite comes from. Sounds kind of lame until you learn that it is a dance in his native Cote d’Ivoire that was inspired by Drogba’s play. And when you learn about Drogba’s past rap efforts with none other than Doctor Gynaecologist, you can see why our iPods will never again be the same.
