Gallas Misses out on American Sightseeing
By: Bob | August 1st, 2006
Maybe William Gallas doesn’t want to play for Chelsea or maybe he fears his coach’s new haircut or maybe he just didn’t feel like dealing with Los Angeles’ notorious traffic, but for whatever reason the French international has chosen not to report to his team’s training camp in the United States and not surprisingly Chelsea is a wee bit upset with him.
“He did not report and further action will now be considered by the club as a consequence,” read a Chelsea statement.
The term “further action” is one of the best in sports, is it not? Images of Gallas being forced to ride Disenyland’s Space Mountain repeatedly until he gets sick dance in my head, but more likely than not he will be slapped with a fine and then shipped off to less green pastures.
In the interim, he will not be allowed to take part in Chelsea’s marketing tour of the States, meaning he will miss out on some killer Hollywood parties.
Gallas, who has one year left on his contract with the London club, has been vacationing in Guadeloupe, an out of the way place that might be perfect for, say, an unpopular referee.
