Hull City: Probably Not the New Derby County

By: Daryl | September 28th, 2008

I’ll bet Arsene Wenger woke up in a cold sweat this morning, looked around his bedroom and said (in French) “Oh, thanks goodness, it was all just a bad dream.”

Then he went downstairs for a nice morning cup of coffee, picked up the paper (my guess is that he reads The Observer) and read the headline “Cousin makes it party time for Hulll”.

Cue Wenger dropping his coffee cup (which shatters on the kitchen floor, probably in slow motion), raising his fists to the sky and shouting “Nooooooo!”

But yes, Hull beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates, even after Arsenal had led through a Paul McShane own goal. No arguing with the almost freakish brilliance of Geovanni’s equalizer or the ruthlessness of Daniel Cousin’s header to win it. Boaz Myhill’s late save from Cesc Fabregas wasn’t too shabby either.

So now we have to really start taking Hull seriously, which is more than we can say for Arsenal’s title challenge with defeats to Fulham and to Hull already in the books.

Having equalled Derby's point total for last season, be prepared for Hull to lose every game.... (I wouldnt bet on it - Arsenal wouldnt have lost to Derby last season, even if they had played them 10 times)

What an awesome game. Hull City might be the best story of the Prem, for years. Heres a to a top half finish for them.
