If You Can’t Beat ‘Em…Pray
By: chris | August 13th, 2008
Have to hand it to Rovers, they’re getting creative in finding ways to make an assault on the top of the Prem. Obviously most teams can’t compete with the Big Four financially because even if you’ve got beaucoup bucks, they’ve simply got more. They’ve also got a kung fu grip on the European spots, so they attract the best players. The best most of the others can hope for is to get lucky with a string of young players….who will eventually leave for greened, pound laden pastures later anyway. So how has Blackburn decided to combat this vicious cycle? Jesus. And Allah. And Buddha.
Blackburn has decided to install a prayer room at Ewood Park for the upcoming season, open to people of all faiths. Better than the actual prayer room, however, is what it was transformed from: a lavatory. Oh yes, you can now pray to the god of your choosing where many a drunken Rovers fan once defecated. (That’s the official slogan.)
Now this is absolutely brilliant. Blackburn simply cannot compete with the Big Four right now - this ain’t the 90’s - and that leaves either an insanely good scouting structure plucking unpolished diamonds out of its arse, or something….divine. Sure, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs are nice. They get it done. But do you think opposing keepers and defenders would rather face them or an attacking line of Jesus, Allah and Buddha? No contest.
Get your money in quickly on Blackburn, God just became a Rovers fan.

With all of the negative news coming out Ewood lately,as a Rovers fan, I’m starting to feel a little like Jonah in the whale. God knows Blackburn could use some divine intervention, and I’ll take all the help I can get.
