Jol Found Out He Was Fired by Text

Martin and ChrisThe Spurs suits treatment of Martin Jol has been less than classy. Daniel Levy and co have been courting Juande Ramos (and then lying about it) while failing to offer the big Dutchman any words of encouragement. He’s been a dead man walking at White Hart Lane – like an undead zombie manager – for far too long. Word was that he managed Spurs against Getafe in the UEFA Cup knowing he was already eligible for Jobseekers Allowance. The Spurs board deny it of course, but then news broke today that Jol discovered he was fired during the game via text message. Nice.

Just to be clear, it wasn’t as brutal as Levy quickly thumbing “ur fired c u l8er” to Jol after Getafe scored their second goal. The chronology isn’t entirely (or even at all) clear, but The Daily Mail claim that Darren Bent received a text from a mystery source some time during the Getafe game (where he was on the bench, just for a change) with the news that Jol was on his bike. Spurs are of course doing some sort of investigation to see who leaked the information, which is ridiculous considering that we all already he was fired anyway.
