Man Utd 18-18 Liverpool
By: Daryl | May 16th, 2009
With today’s 0-0 draw at home to Arsenal, Man Utd won their third Premier League title in a row, and Alex Ferguson’s 25th trophy in 23 years. “It makes you want to go on for ever,” said Fergie, who actually might do exactly that.
Arguably more importantly, today’s title win brings Man Utd level with Liverpool in number of league titles won. It’s now 18-18.
With Liverpool mounting a pretty serious title challenge this season, Rafa Benitez in charge of transfers over the summer, they’ll likely be in a stronger position to reclaim the lead next season.
And with doubts over Carlos Tevez’ Old Trafford future, and another summer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid still to come, Man Utd may be starting next season with some slightly different personnel.
That’s not to count out Arsenal or Chelsea. Either of them could be involved in next season’s title race. Either of them could win it. But if next season sees Man Utd and Liverpool going at each other for not just the Premier League trophy, but for the honour of being England’s all-time leading league championship winners, then we could be in for one titanic title battle.
Let’s hope so. Because for all the great players in the Premier League, the race for the league title has been lacking a bit of drama in recent years.

I take it you have not seen that liverpool are making up titles, so they have ‘actually won 20′. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N162300081201-1544.htm
Thats quite sad really…

the title chase this year was crap. everyone was shite except manure, who were the only team to put together a decent run. Roll on next season and new champions for a change.

In fairness, I get the vibe from that article that it’s written with a good amount of tongue-in-cheek. Plus I don’t think the curator of the Anfield museum really has the flex to speak for the entire club, or that the club would actually make such a claim…but yeah, good try.

Yea agree Ed. And monomatt, ask any manchester united fan, and they will tell you that united played crap for a lot of the season. It was really a competition of who could be the least crap, and that was us

Drabik is so right. Part of the frenzied celebrations were fueled by the feelings of relief / disbelief that we won it even when mostly playing like slaughtered chickens.
This does not include Vidic. Except for the human moment (Torres0, he was a god amongst men.
