Manchester United are Premier League Champions
By: Ian Rose | May 11th, 2008This is the penalty that technically won the Premier League title this year. With Chelsea only managing a draw with Bolton, the title could only be lost by United with a defeat to Wigan, and despite a great effort from Steve Bruce’s men, that was not in the cards. Congratulations to repeat champions of England, Manchester United. Chelsea made a good run at it, but in the end, it was out of their hands. At least, with the title rivals ending two points apart, there should be no more talk of a playoff.
The penalty above makes it 31 for the Premiership season, and 41 in all competitions for Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Champions League final still to come. That ties Alan Shearer for the most in a 38-game Premiership season. Liverpool’s Fernando Torres should also not be forgotten today, with his 24th goal of the season securing him the new record for a foreigner’s debut season in the Prem.
Don’t ever say we don’t listen. As Inky asked for, here’s Giggs’ goal as well:

It was lovely to see both Sheva and Giggs score for completely different reasons.

*And as Rob said, it really was wonderful to see a: Chelsea actually use Shevchenko, and b: for him to score.
Always a special place in my heart.

I am desperately seeking a photo of Patrice Evra’s face as he received the medal. If anybody has a link, post it here and I’ll be eternally in your debt.
