Mourinho’s Priorities: 1) Coach in Spain or Italy 2) Kill Chelsea
By: Laurie | March 7th, 2008
Is there anybody else who can’t read Jose Mourinho quotes any more without hearing the little Jose Mourinho puppet character from “I’m on Setanta Sports”? Or is it just me?
(My personal favorite is the one where he makes Sven Goran Ericksson wear a pink feather boa because his original scarf was too much like The Special One’s. But I digress.)
Jose is back in the news again, getting headlines as only he can. He says he’s coming back into the game next year, hoping for Italy or Spain, and eventually planning a return to England. But the quote that’s getting headlines is this one about Chelsea:
“If I play them in the Champions League, I want to go there and kill them – that’s my message.”
Then, of course, he goes on to talk about his love for Chelsea, how they’ll be in his heart forever, how he was just chatting with Chelsea owner Abramovich…
But why would we want to write about that stuff when we can write about Sven in a feather boa while using the “kill Chelsea” quote?
(If you’re looking for a little more depth, though? Ahmed Bilal over at SoccerLens has a post up about the “kill Chelsea” phrase and its subsequent manipulation by the media. Worth a read.)

Wouldn’t Barcelona be the perfect fit for Mourinho? This guy would be HUGE in Spain. We already know that he is “Fantastic, Amazing and Incredible” (very nice)…

Somehow, Spain is a better for Mourinho than Italy. Whether he is managing Real or Barca, the game needs him back on the big stage. I know his dream is to manage Portugal (maybe WC2010?) but he is sooooo better suited to club football.

I had him pegged to go to AC Milan at first. But now as I see it, if Barça pass up Real Madrid in the standings, I feel he’ll be Bernabéu bound.

I watched that interview and every time he said, “why not?” I burst out laughing.
