Oh Nuts, Aston Villa Least Popular English Premier League Team
By: Bob | September 6th, 2006
We’re always skeptical of polls. Ask a question the right way and you’ll come up with numbers that show that 23% of the public thinks the world is flat. Sorry friends, it isn’t. It is a square.
But when a poll is conducted by a magazine called Nuts, you know it has to be scientifically sound and statistically accurate.
The esteemed magazine in the UK recently conducted a poll asking football fans to name the Premiership team that they are most likely to support other than their own. The result was that Liverpool is the favorite other team of 15% of those surveyed. Must be the affinity everyone has for gangly, robot-dancing forwards.
On the other hand of the spectrum is Aston Villa, which was named by only 1% of the voting audience. We find it hard to believe that there really is much hatred towards Aston Villa unless those surveyed also happen to dislike the Cleveland Browns. More likely, we think that people simply forgot that Aston Villa is even in the Premiership. Happens to us all the time. Their uniforms are too similiar to West Ham’s.
Complete poll numbers below.
