Pompey ’til and After I Die

Watching Portsmouth play in previous seasons has probably taken a few years off the lives of their supporters, which is good news for a local funeral home offering The Pompey Package. For £1,795, loyal fans can rest in peace in an official Portsmouth coffin, while they are driven past Fratton Park to their grave in a hearse decorated in the club colors. For an additional cost, family members can hold a reception at the club’s ground, a place where championship dreams go to die.

Said the funeral director Lee Fletcher, “This is a modern option for loyal supporters — it’s something I would go for myself.”

Is there anything creepier than a funeral director with a salesman personality? Ok, there is.

Surely if it is to be a true Pompey experience one end should be open to the elements, like the Milton Road End of Fratton Park.
