Prem Predictions Week 15: United to Win Manchester Derby

Middlesbrough v Newcastle, 15:00
Saturday’s fixtures aren’t that exciting (Sunday’s where the action’s at.) But if you had to watch a Saturday game, watch this one. If only to see a possible comeback from Mark Viduka. If he partners Owen at any point, that’s officially the most injury prone strike partnership in world history.
Odds:‘Boro 6-5, Draw 12-5, Newcastle 11-5
Prediction: 1-0 to ‘Boro
Aston Villa v Fulham, 15:00
The team that taught Arsenal a lesson in attacking football and held Man Utd to a goalless draw, versus… a team without an away win this season. That said, Fulham have won three of the last five and just held Liverpool 0-0 at Anfield. I say no goals again.
Odds:Villa 4-7, Draw 11-4, Cottagers 11-2
Prediction: 0-0
Stoke v Hull, 15:00
Neither of these teams is in the relegation zone. That in itself is a shock. Hull are sixth, which is just silly. The heat around Delap’s throws seems to have died now that even teenage American girls are doing it and doing it with more flair, so another away win for Hull.
Odds:Stoke 6-4, Draw 23-10, Hull 9-5
Prediction: 0-2
Sunderland v Bolton, 15:00
Relegation is a serious threat for 17th place Sunderland right now, while Bolton seem to be hovering above it all in 12th. El-Hadji Diouf scored in both games against old employers Bolton last season and might do the same here. But it won’t be enough to win.
Odds:Sunderland 6-5, Draw 23-10, Bolton 23-10
Prediction: 1-1
Wigan v West Brom, 15:00
WBA aren’t the new Derby. There’ll never be another Derby. But they look the worst team in the top flight this year, which has come as a bit of a surprise. They should never have let Kevin Phillips go.
Odds:Wigan 4-5, Draw 5-2, WBA 7-1
Prediction: 2-0
Sunday, 30 November 2008
Chelsea v Arsenal, 16:00
Two teams who’ve fallen out with William Gallas, one of which he’ll probably be playing for. Arsenal had a much better midweek than Chelsea, but are still missing too many players to upset the Blues at home. Plus the team with the least pink boots is automatically favourite.
Odds:Chelsea 8-11, Draw 5-2, Arsenal 4-1
Prediction: 2-0
Man City v Man Utd, 13:30
The first Manchester derby since City became not just equally as rich as Utd, but theoretically rich enough to buy and sell them twice over. But it’s not about what you got in the bank, it’s about what you got the pitch. And Utd still have way more.
Odds:Blue Billionaires 10-3, Draw 5-2, Red Devils 5-6
Prediction: 1-2
Portsmouth v Blackburn, 15:00
Tony Adams is still after a first home win as Pompey boss, but is at least in 8th. Paul Ince wiull take any win he can get, as Blackburn have sunk to 19th. Adams will get what he wants, Ince won’t.
Odds:Pompey evens, Draw 12-5, Rovers 11-4
Prediction: 3-2
Tottenham v Everton, 15:00
This looks like a good game. At one end, you have a keeper with a terrible disease manifesting itself as a series of involuntary movements. At the other you have Tim Howard, who has Tourette’s. OK, not funny. But this should be an entertaining draw.
Odds:Spurs evens, Draw 12-5, Toffees 11-4
Prediction: 2-2
Monday, 1 December 2008
Liverpool v West Ham, 20:00
Frustrating 0-0 draw for Liverpool last weekend, and now Fernando Torres is out for another couple of weels. Meanwhile West Ham just got their first win in seven by beating Sunderland away. So momentum is with West Ham, right? Wrong. Liverpool are serious about the Prem this season, and will take all three points.
Odds:LFC 4-11, Draw 7-2, Hammers 17-2
Prediction: 3-0
