Premiership Coaches Most Likely to be Sacked
By: Bob | August 22nd, 2006
The Premiership season in England has hardly even begun and already there is an early favorite for manager most likely to be fired. Following his team’s dismal 5-1 loss to Manchester United Sunday, oddsmakers have installed Fulham’s Chris Coleman as the 2/1 favorite to get the axe. Fair enough. Coleman’s team underachieved last year and his deep-pocketed owner is likely to grow restless watching his side get spanked each week.
Some other managers who are considered likely candidates for exile: Manchester City’s Stuart Pearce at 6/1, Bolton’s Sam Allardyce at 9/1, Portsmouth’s Harry Redknapp and Newcastle’s Glenn Roeder are both at 10/1.
If betting on the future of managers isn’t your thing, William Hill is offering the chance to bet on which teams will be relegated. The three newly promoted sides – Watford, Sheffield United and Reading – are the favorites for relegation. At 2501/1 Chelsea is seen as the least likely team to drop a level, a sucker’s bet, but crazier bets have paid off.

At 9-1 I would take that bet on Allardyce. His Bolton team is going to struggle this year and he will probably say something inflammatory to get himself fired.
