Premiership Predictions Week 14: Arsenal and Spurs to Bounce Back

Chelsea v Newcastle, 15:00
Newcastle have no away wins this season, and won’t be getting their first at Stamford Bridge. Especially with Joey Barton out for two months with bad karma knee ligaments. Nicolas Anelka (eight goals in his last four games) could face Newcastle on his own here and probably get a result.
Odds: Chelsea 2-9, Draw 5-1, Newcastle 11-1
Prediction: 3-0
Liverpool v Fulham, 15:00
Fulham travel to Anfield in 10th place after last week’s win over Spurs. But Heurelho Gomes doesn’t play for Liverpool, and Pepe Reina won’t be giving away any easy goals. Big question: will Steven Gerrard play? Or is he really injured? Fabio Capello will be watching closely.
Odds: Liverpool 1-4, Draw 9-2, Fulham 11-1
Prediction: 2-0
Man City v Arsenal, 15:00
Two of the Prems most unpredictable teams and you want me to predict a result? Logic would dictate that with Walcott’s injury and Gallas’s wacky outburst, Arsenal are in trouble. I’m going to go against logic and predict a bounceback.
Odds: Man City 11-5, Draw 12-5, Arsenal 6-5
Prediction: 1-2
Middlesbrough v Bolton, 15:00
Apparently ‘Boro and Bolton both have an average Premier League finish of 13th. Is that unlucky? Only if you have tickets to this game.
Odds: ‘Boro 10-11, Draw 12-5, Bolton 3-1
Prediction: 1-1
Portsmouth v Hull, 15:00
Hull have lost some of their early season shine, but Portsmouth boss Tony Adams has outed himself as a slightly scary loner who never wants to talk to anyone. More importantly, Pompey are without Sol Campbell, Lassana Diarra and Nicko Kranjcar, while Hull seem to do well on their travels.
Odds: Portsmouth 5-6, Draw 12-5, Hull 7-2
Prediction: 1-2
Stoke v West Brom, 15:00
It’s basically a top of the table Championship game that just happens to be taking place at the bottom of the Premiership. West Brom’s stylish efforts versus Stoke’s rough and tumble.
Odds: Stoke 6-5, Draw 23-10, WBA 23-10
Prediction: 3-1
Aston Villa v Man Utd, 17:30
The team that beat Arsenal vs the team that lost to Arsenal. A win for Villa would finally get them into the top four. Another loss for Utd would put a serious dent in their title hopes. Easily the must see game of the weekend. Man Utd might be favourites, but I see Villa raising their game again for an entertaining end to end draw.
Odds: Villa 7-2, Draw 5-2, Man Utd 4-5
Prediction: 2-2
Sunday, 23 November 2008
Sunderland v West Ham, 16:00
Two teams struggling for form, but Sunderland less so after beating Blackburn. So Keane’s men will win this one at home, and pretty soon people will be talking about Gianfranco Zola getting fired.Odds: Sunderland 11-10, Draw 23-10, Hammers 5-2
Prediction: 2-0
Tottenham v Blackburn, 13:30
Relegation battle (19th vs 18th) and great game for lovers of comedy goalkeeping. With Heurelho Gomes facing Paul Robinson, that doubles your chances of a game-changing howler. But given Spurs excellent recent form (Redknapp’s first defear aside) and Blackburn’s horrible form and inability to do well in London, this is a Spurs win.
Odds: Spurs 8-11, Draw 5-2, Rovers 4-1
Prediction: 1-0
Monday, 24 November 2008
Wigan v Everton, 20:00
Everton’s climb up the table is well underway (now in 7th) while Wigan have continued to fall (now 16th) despite everyone saying nice things about them being better than their results. No team is better than their results. That’s just crazy talk.
Odds: Wigan 8-5, Draw 9-4, Everton 17-10
Prediction: 0-1

I agree with us beating Blackburn, but shouldn’t it be more along the lines of 6-5 then?

United will win… That’s really all I have to say… Despite their current standing, Wolves are terrible…
