Robinho Outshines Berbatov on Debut, But Only Just
By: Daryl | September 13th, 2008It started promisingly with Berbatov laying on a goal for Tevez three minutes into the earlier game, but the Bulgarian was pretty quiet after that as Liverpool went on to win 2-1.
Robinho also suffered a defeat on his City debut, but not before he’d scored the above free kick with just thirteen minutes on the clock.
Unlucky for some. Especially Petr Cech.
But for the rest of the game Chelsea reminded City what it means to have all the money on the pitch instead of “coming soon”. The Blues went back to the top of the Prem (Liverpool were there for a few hours) by turning this game around with three goals:
First Ricardo Carvalho made up for giving away the free kick that allowed Robinho’s to score, by equalizing just three minutes later:
Then Frank Lampard reminded everyone that he’s all about the goals with this 53rd minute finish:
Before Nicolas Anelka made it three in the 77th:
Only downside for Chelsea, John Terry was sent off in the 69th minute:
Little harsh maybe as he wasn’t the last man, and ss Robbie Earle says in the video, Terry did that expecting a yellow. But on the other hand it was a pretty cynical move.
Either way Terry will now miss the big game next week when Chelsea take on the other team from Manchester.

Well we’ve got Alex and ManU? Haha O’Shea have to replace Vidic. But maybe FA would cancel this card? Cheers

absolutely incorrect. robinho was complete garbage after the free kick. his dribbling, stupid stepovers followed by horrible passes was laughable.
berba on the other hand laid on the nice pass to tevez and while he didnt do anything astounding afterwards, he played his position well.

It seams like fans forget that it takes time to have cohesion playing in a team …. just give Robinho some time with his team mates and we shall see tremendous improvements …. don’t expect a miracle !!!!!
