I agree with this statement SwissJan. I’m a big time hiphop fan and there a lot of genre’s of music i find completely boring and horrible, like metal.. so its only fair that you feel the same way about hiphop..

but dont make the assumption that just because you don’t like it, that is not an art and unnatural. Rap music has been the music of choice worldwide for the majority of the last 25 years..And it takes a very talented and gifted individual to do it well… and this very same thing can be said for all genre’s of music, so it all comes down to personal preference and what we relate to

Jack you may fail to appreciate that in continental Europe there is a significant number of individuals who are exasperated by the omnipresence of this genre, as conscious and thinking individuals with our own standards of art appreciation we do not join the world mass of hip-hopsters. You cannot impose it on us so don’t start thinking that listening to hip-hop should be natural. There are many other genres out there and I’m sure you hip-hop fans reject them or ignore them completely.

Marlon, undoubtedly there is underground music (I’ve been told about it) that doesn’t have that connotation of superficiality and materiality yet it doesn’t really matter, I don’t consider the genre music (and I’m not stating the universality of my assumption, it’s merely against my musical appreciation standards).

It’s like metal, I wouldn’t happily listen to Evanescence, I’d rather go for Epica.

I didn’t say you never heard Hip-Hop Jan, I said you never heard REAL Hip-Hop. It is not oft found on MTV. The “music” you are describing is perfectly acceptable to detest, but I don’t write off Metal just because Dragonforce blows.

I am a big hip hop/rap head, and there is definitely more to it than what Babel is ‘rapping’ about. His freestyle is weak and such a cliché (money, no one can mess with him, etc)

Now I’m not as big a fan seeing how shallow he is
