Ten Years of Arsene Wegner
By: Bob | September 28th, 2006
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is getting his moment in the sun as this week marks the tenth anniversary at the London club. We’ve always wondered why 10th, 20th, 30th, etc anniversaries are more important than, say, a 7th or 19th, but regardless, sticking for ten years with the same Premiership side is an accomplishment these days.
Wenger’s success is well documented and the praise he has received justified. If only all of us were in a position to have a job for life.
With all this feel-good warmth is the air, it is hard to imagine that 10 years ago the majority of Arsenal supporters were scratching their head when the Wenger appointment was made. The favorite for the gig had been Johan Cryuff and when the world learned a Frenchman had been tapped to lead an English side, the apocalypse had come.
Ten years later, we all know Wenger well, perhaps too well, but Football 365 has come up with a collection of odd facts that will only further your knowledge. While we don’t admire his musical preference we’ll always respect someone who lists watching football as their only hobby. We can relate.
