The Best EPL Free Kick Ever?
By: Martha | January 31st, 2008
Sir Alex Ferguson called Cristiano Ronaldo’s deadball goal against Pompey yesterday “without doubt the best free-kick I’ve seen in the Premier League.” Whether you agree with him or not, it was pretty damn good. (The people at 101 Great Goals, meanwhile, offer 16 alternative “bests” for the purposes of comparison.)

Not that great? are you joking?
Those free kicks are the hardest to hit. You hit the ball with the outside of your foot, just enough to get over the wall and then knuckle/bend into the top corner.
Bending the ball a crazy distance is easier than hitting a free kick like that. Try it.

I think George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch had a hand in there.

That type of kick was developed by Garrincha (Brazil) many years ago, in the 60s.
It was called “Folha Seca”.
The ball has top-spin, which is very difficult to achieve.Posted from

what a joke. Juninho’s hit at least 15 better freekicks than that. i’m sorry but the look on his face after he scores a goal makes me want to kick his ass.

WOW! Superb free kick, but that reaction just makes me want to stab him…. on the right foot of course.
