The Offside Fantasy League: Value for Money
By: Daryl | May 9th, 2008
It’s the final day of Premiership action on Sunday. And so it’s the final day of The Offside Fantasy League too. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there’ll be a down to the wire title race in our little league (I say little, but there are 287 teams in it).
The team “fruit”, managed by alunie1, has a 208 point lead going into the last round of games. More or less insurmountable. But while alunie1 celebrates, everyone else can still try and finish the season on a high note. To help you do that, here are the 10 players who offered the best value for money in The Offside Fantasy League this season, so you might want to consider transferring them in for the last game.
This isn’t the top ten point scorers. You can see those on SquadGod’s player page and it’s no surprise to see Cristiano Ronaldo leading the pack with a look-at-me 837 points.
The ten players below are the players that offer the most value, if value is determined as points scored divided by how many millions of fantasy money they cost. It’s essentially how many points they scored per million pounds they cost:
1. Martin Laursen (Aston Villa) 476pts / 5.5m = 86.55
2. Gael Clichy (Arsenal) 692pts / 8.2m = 84.39
3. Paul Scharner (Wigan) 446pts / 5.7m = 78.25
4. Roque Santa Cruz (Blackburn) 537pts / 7.5m = 71.6
5. Sulley Muntari (Portsmouth) 481pts / 7m = 68.71
6. Danny Collins (Sunderland) 329pts/ 5m = 65.8
7. Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal) 648pts / 10m = 64.8
8. Stephen Warnock (Blackburn) 434pts / 7m = 62
9. Vedran Corluka (Man City) 338pts / 5.5m = 61.45
10. George McCartney (Sunderland) 340pts / 5.6m = 60.71
