The Offside Fantasy Leauge: The Worst of the Worst
By: Daryl | January 25th, 2008
We’re up to Gameweek 23 of The Offside Fantasy League (note the fancy new url) now, so it’s time to name and shame a few people. Below are the five absolute worst players in the SquadGod fantasy football game. Players who, after half a season, are somehow on negative points. Players you should never, ever – under any circumstances – select in your fantasy team.
You may be surprised at some of the names. No Titus Bramble for one thing. Sure, he does hilariously incompetent things like this (bless him) but statistically he’s a decent player. Statistically, the following are not decent players:
1. Elliot Omozusi (Fulham) £1m -8pts
After eight Premier League appearances the defender is averaging -1.05 points per game. Omozusi is only 19, and tipped for a bright future, but being in a leaky Fulham defence and getting a red card have done nothing for his stats.
2. Eddie Lewis (Derby) £5.9m -4pts
Always more comfortable in the Championship, Lewis’ classy left foot (he was briefly dubbed “the American Beckham”) hasn’t helped him score many points. Being part of a rotten Derby team doesn’t help either.
3. Marc Edworthy (Derby) £5m -4pts
Another Derby player. Certainly playing at the back for Derby has been rough this season, but Edworthy has only played twice. Both times they conceded heavily and so Edworthy has -4pts.
=4.Fitz Hall (Wigan) £5m -2pts
Played just 39 minutes this season in one substitute appearance, but still managed to score -2pts.
=4. Colin Doyle (Birmingham) £5m -2pts
Young keeper Doyle has played three times for Blues this year and conceded six goals. That sort of form doesn’t make you any fantasy football friends.
